01What we hear

The problems we’re asked to solve.

Topographic, LiDAR and mapping surveys for councils and government bodies, delivered with procurement-ready documentation and a clear accuracy statement.
  1. 01

Survey budgets that have to go further

A conventional ground survey of a country park, a closed landfill or a mile of coastal frontage can take a large share of a year's survey budget. You need full coverage of the site at a known accuracy without paying for weeks of field time.

  2. 02

Data that has to stand up to scrutiny

Survey data ends up in planning committee reports, flood business cases, compulsory purchase files and audit trails. If an objector, an auditor or an inspector asks how accurate it is, you need a documented answer, not a supplier's reassurance.

  3. 03

Onboarding that takes longer than the survey

Supplier set-up, selection questionnaires, insurance certificates, RAMS and a data protection impact assessment can stall a small job for weeks. Many specialist suppliers cannot produce the documents your standing orders require.

  4. 04

Sites your staff should not be walking

Unstable slopes, eroding cliffs, closed landfill, embankments beside live roads and railway boundaries all carry lone-working and traffic risks. Traffic management alone can cost more than the survey.

  5. 05

    Residents, councillors and privacy

A drone over a housing estate will generate phone calls, social media posts and sometimes an FOI request. You need a supplier who treats privacy as part of the flight plan and can give your communications team something to say.

02How we help

The right survey for each decision.

03Procurement & compliance

Easy to appoint. Easy to audit.

Buying from us: procurement and compliance

Since 24 February 2025, most new public procurements by contracting authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland have been run under the Procurement Act 2023. Devolved Scottish authorities, including Scottish councils, continue to follow Scottish procurement law. Whichever regime applies, we work to the route your contract standing orders set: a quotation, a below-threshold tender, a further competition or a call-off. Your procurement team will confirm the compliant route; our job is to make it quick to follow.

Documents available on request, usually the same day

  • Insurance certificates: £10m public liability and £10m professional indemnity insurance, with certificates issued on request.
  • CAA operator registration and CAA Operational Authorisation (Specific category), with pilot competency records (GVC-qualified remote pilots).
  • Site-specific RAMS, flight plans, airspace assessment and emergency procedures, issued before mobilisation.
  • Health and safety and supply-chain accreditations: Constructionline Gold, SSIP · Once For All Health & Safety.
  • Completed selection questionnaire responses, and the core supplier information needed for registration on the Central Digital Platform.
  • A written accuracy statement for every survey: control method, checkpoint residuals and RMSE.

Social value

The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 asks authorities to consider social value when buying services, and many councils score it through the National TOMs or their own measures. We only offer commitments we can evidence and report on: fewer vehicle visits and site days than an equivalent ground survey, and use of local accommodation and suppliers when our crews are deployed. We will report against whatever measures your contract uses.

Data protection and UK GDPR

Aerial imagery can incidentally capture personal data: people, vehicles and private gardens. For council work we normally act as a processor under your instructions, sign a data processing agreement and support your DPIA with a description of what we capture, why and for how long. Flight plans are drawn to the survey boundary, imagery released for publication can have faces and number plates blurred, and survey data is deleted from our systems once it’s handed over. UK GDPR compliant. Project data processed in the UK.

  • Template resident letters and site notices for your communications team.
  • A named contact your customer services team can pass questions to on the day.
  • An unrestricted licence to use all commissioned data for any purpose, so it can be shared with consultants, published or disclosed under FOI as you decide.

Common questions

Possibly, depending on the framework. We do not claim listings we do not hold, so tell us which framework or dynamic market you intend to use and we will confirm our position in writing. If we are not on it, we can often be appointed as a sub-supplier to a listed prime, or you may be able to use a below-threshold quotation or tender if the contract value allows. Your procurement officer will confirm which route is compliant under your standing orders and the Procurement Act 2023, or Scottish procurement rules if you are a Scottish authority.

Insurance certificates, CAA operator details and operational authorisation, pilot competency records, health and safety accreditations, a completed selection questionnaire where you use one, and a data protection statement. Project-specific RAMS, a flight plan and an airspace assessment are issued before we mobilise. Most of the standard pack can be sent the same working day.

Privacy is planned in, not bolted on. We fly to the survey boundary, capture at the altitude the survey needs rather than lower, and blur faces and number plates in any imagery intended for publication. We can support your DPIA, act as processor under a data processing agreement, and provide resident letters and site notices. Project data is processed in the UK. Survey data is kept until it’s handed over to you, then deleted from our systems.

Yes, when it is controlled properly. Every survey is tied to ground control observed with survey-grade GNSS, and accuracy is proved against independent checkpoints that are not used in processing. The report states the RMSE, typically ±20 mm vertically on hard surfaces for photogrammetry, and lists every checkpoint residual so your engineers can judge fitness for purpose themselves.

Rarely. We take off and land away from the carriageway on land where we have permission, and plan flight lines so we do not hover over moving traffic. That usually removes the need for lane closures or a street works permit for the survey itself. Where a site genuinely needs traffic management, for example to place control on a live carriageway, we will say so at quotation stage.

You receive an unrestricted licence to use the data for any purpose, including internal use, sharing with consultants, publication or disclosure. Full transfer of ownership can be agreed in your contract. We deliver in open formats as well as CAD and GIS formats, so the data works in ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and similar packages, and is not tied to our software.

Yes. For monitoring programmes we set up permanent or re-observable control, fly the same specification each visit and deliver difference models showing change between epochs, with the accuracy of each survey stated so genuine movement can be separated from measurement noise. Surveys can be scheduled around tides, seasons or storm events.

Yes. Scottish councils and other devolved Scottish authorities buy under Scottish procurement rules, usually advertised through Public Contracts Scotland, and we are happy to respond there. Welsh bodies use the Procurement Act 2023 alongside Welsh duties such as the Procurement (Wales) Act 2023 on socially responsible procurement, typically via Sell2Wales. Our crews mobilise UK-wide, so location does not affect our ability to deliver.
